Good News, Bad News and Better News

The good news is the groomers were out all night Friday night. The bad news is I don't know where they went! Riders in from Benior Lake this morning said the they were on a freshly groomed trail though.

The better news is that we got about 6-7 inches of snow during the night and it's snowing again this morning. This freshened everything up nicely.

It's a good thing that there was such an accumulation of snow so that when the rain came this week it didn't do too much damage. There is still plenty out there. We still have better conditions that all of last year.

I hear that there has been some lake travel but it's still not a good idea. I will try to get further details on the lakes over the weekend.

Happy Sledding. See you in the new year!

Here we snow again!!!!

After Sunday's dump we had Tuesday's then Wednesday's. It hasn't snowed so far Thursday but it's not over yet.

On my morning walk I usually have a truck or car pass by me, but not today. It was the groomer this morning. The poor dog didn't know what was coming at her. He was on his way around Lake St. Peter heading up to Madawaska. It has also been freshly groomed into Bancroft.

The only riders in today came from Bancroft so no news from any other directions.

I may not get a chance over the weekend and then I'm out of town until Wednesday AM. If you need any info don't hesitate to call. 613-338-3043

The diner will be closed from 12:00 noon Dec 24th until 11:00 Dec 26th.

Happy Holidays and all the best for 2008.

Cheers
Nancy

Did we have a little snow over the weekend????

There doesn't seem much point in updating conditions. If the rest of Southern Ontario got half of what dropped up here you would be happy. I've never seen so much snow fall in one day in years.

The snow is now so high on my deck at home that it is coming up past my kitchen window. I usually can't get out the front door starting in January. But it's been blocked for two weeks now and won't be used until April most likely.

Sadly my digital camera has passed on so no more pictures until I get another. Santa is out of the question. I'm pretty sure I'm on the naughty list.

The sun is shining this morning, roads are all cleared, driveways plowed, school buses are even running. To bad Toronto can't spring into action as quickly. It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood.

Greetings to Harry from Port Perry. You were the first person in to tell me that you read the blog to keep up on all the news thats fit to print. I hope you got the extra 100 K on your new sled before you had to leave.

Steve from Bird's Creek. Sorry about your motor blowing up. If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all. Your brother told me the service is Wednesday.

I know it's close to the Holidays but if you have a day or two head up. We're all groomed up and ready to go.

See you soon.
Cheers Nancy

Another great sledding weekend.

Sorry that it has taken me a week to update but not much has changed in a week in good ol' Lake St. Peter. We still have tons of snow with a light dusting each day or two. I only had to get the lot plowed once this week so that tells the story.

Riders in this week have said that the trails are still great. The groomer has been out almost every day this week. I have seen it pass by the window nearly every night.

It is really cold today so no chance of any melt down. The road crossings are still good although the roads are dry and bare for the most part.

Here's hoping that you can pack up and join us for breakfast or lunch on Saturday or Sunday.

Just remember to KEEP OFF THE LAKE!!! It's not frozen yet.

Cheers

We went almost 24 hours without a snow fall. But here it comes down again. Even though the trails are all closed----they are also all groomed and just waiting for all the sledders to head this way.

The Whitney club has folded so the Snow Skimmers are grooming up to the hydro line to Whitney, Haliburton is grooming through the hydro line and Barrys Bay is grooming from their end to Whitney. So things are coming together.

We are hoping for a great weekend as it looks like the snow isn't going to stop. The three cuties from Peterborough that were in on Wedensday said that the ride down from Whitney was one of the best they have ever had. Sorry guys still no milkshakes!

The lakes are all covered over with snow so it looks like they are frozen but don't be tricked. We have just gotten so much snow that they got covered before they were really well frozen. It will probably take longer this year for them to freeze.

So load up the sleds and head for the hills for the best riding in a long time.

Cheers
Nancy

What a pleasant surprise last weekend was. Great sledding, great weather and even some groomed trails.

It was really nice to see some of the familiar faces back in the area. Thanks for trying us out, I hope we see you again.

For those of you who don't believe there is snow-let me tell you I have had the lot snowplowed 6 times in 10 days. I have pictures to post but of course I am at home and the camera is at the resturant.

The groomer has been busy already. The trail from Lake St. Peter towards Combermere past Papineau Lake has been groomed since the weekend.

I'm sure they will be heading to Bancroft again this week. I will post as soon as I hear something.

Both groomers were busy on Sunday, not grooming but rescuing someone that went through a beaver pond and got stuck. We all know to keep off the lakes but sometimes the little ponds sneek up on you I guess!

That's it for now. I'll let you know how the trails are as soon as I get some sledders in this week.

Cheers
